I just finished writing my latest fashion article for Live It! Magazine about dressing for your body shape. I won’t go into much detail because the article has yet to be printed, but one of the things I talk about in the article is peplum!
As all you fashionistas know, peplum was HUGE is 2012! Hitting the runways, red carpets and streets all over the country, peplum was (and still is) everywhere! My favorite bloggers have even been rocking the peplum trend: here is Cate of Wild Ruffle rocking a black peplum top, and here is Andrea of Blonde Bedhead rocking a black and gold peplum dress!
There’s so much to love about peplum:
- If worn right, it looks great on ALL body types!
- Whether it’s a top, skirt, dress or coat, it adds a little fun and flirty element to any look.
- It’s a versatile style that can be worn many different ways. For example: A body-con dress with a peplum detail can be perfect for a fancy date night with your man, while a peplum top can be paired with skinny jeans for a casual lunch with your girlfriends.
- It’s so simple to style! Pair a peplum top with skinny jeans or a pencil skirt, or let a peplum dress speak for itself!
As I searched my closet for something to wear this morning, I thought, “oh my goodness, I do have PEPLUM!” I had forgotten about this adorable little top from Express – I got it from my mom for Christmas.
Due to the fact that she gave it to me with a business pencil skirt, I hadn’t even thought about pairing it with jeans for a more casual look.
Turns out it looks fabulous! And don’t you just LOVE the adorable floral print? I can’t wait to style it again!
